The core of the exposition is the painting “A portrait of She-serf” by A.G.Venetsianov. This painting is from the collection of stud-farm owner Longinov, a neighbor of the painter. Also at the exposition there presented: female characters in lithography by K.Malevich, self-portraits by Olga Rozanova, “Nude” in Modern-style of early 20 century by “Blue Rose” artist V.I.Denisov and female characters in China porcelain by Schekotikhina-Pototskaya, Y.Gatilova, E.Yeropkina and early 20 century photographs by photo-artists Svischev-Paolo and A.Rodchenko.

In aristocratic families arts and crafts items have always taken a peculiar niche in home decoration. This style reigned in noble interiors underlining the exquisite taste of the master of the house. Ancient furniture, authentic chandeliers, sculptures, colored glass, vases and other interior items, presented by “Tri Veka” gallery, evoke the splendid epoch of gorgeous receptions, given by the first kingpins of the empire and chamber evening parties for “peculiar” circle. The exposition displays the masterpieces of arts and crafts style: paired Empire-style candelabra, made at A.I.Schreiber’s bronze factory, the famous Saint Petersburg supplier of Russian Emperor Court; “ruby glass” vase with bronze cutting, a rarity article of Emperor Porcelain Manufactory; paired candelabra from the best Parisian bronze-master Claude Gall; decorative vases of Emperor Paul epoch and the unique collection of Russian glass-beads.

At 28 Russian Antique Salon “Mastera” gallery presents the exposition devoted to the creative work of Nikolay Yegorovich Sverchkov (1817-1898), the famous Russian painter, in particular famous in “horse portrait” genre. This small exposition is timed to soon-printed monograph and the first catalogue-raisonne of this painter.

This exposition presents the graphic works of the outstanding Russian artists of the late 19th century. For the first time the viewers will enjoy new watercolor drawings by Bogolyubov A.P. from his travel notes on Russian south – the artists made these soft and lyrical sketches during his travelling in the Crimea in 1863; surprisingly vivid illustration made by outstanding Russian graphic artists and painter Zichi M.A. to M.Yu.Lermontov’s “Princess Mary” with astonishingly accurately depicted characters; expressive drawings by Somov K.A., Bogayevsky K.F., Makovsky V.E. and also a heartfelt work of Savrasov A.K., a pioneer of Russian lyrical landscape style.

This exposition consists of arts and crafts items of early 20th century and reflects the main peculiarity of Russian Silver Age culture – the endless stylistic variety. Here one can see the blending both of European Modern style and its special deviation known as national romanticism. But its influence on future art decades is incontestable. Modern style is very popular with collectors, thus the number of top-class works on the antique market reduces considerably. As a result, the unique display-cupboard in French art nouveau style, presented by the gallery, would be of special interest to the viewers. This cupboard was made at P.Schmidt factory not long before its decline and closing in 1902.

This project is aimed to show the variety of artistic styles and movements in Russia and Europe in 20 century by the examples of original and printed graphics created by leading Russian and European masters. There are presented the works by Ivan Bilibin, Pierre Bonnard, Vladimir Weisberg, Andre Derain, Anatoly Zverev, Tatiana Mavrina, Pavel Mansourov, Andre Masson, Petr Mitourich, Yuriy Pimenov, Dmitry Plavinsky, Viktor Popkov, George Rouault, Boris Sveshnikov, Nikolay Tarkhov, Vladimir Favorsky, Robert Falk, Alexander Shevchenko and others.

Art heritage of Russian emigration takes important part in art history of 20th century. Different styles and movements of Russian “abroad” of the first half of 20th century are presented by works of N.Goncharova, M.Larionov, S.Soudeikin, Yu.Annenkov, S.Ferr, N.Zagrekov.

T.B. Alexandrova and I.N.Popov are the legendary “Zemleroi” (Earth-movers), adventurous Moscow artists from the pleiad of 1930s. Among dusty rarities they created the unique color-plastic worlds, differing from each other and still closely adjoining. For a long time their works were separated from the viewers. For the first time their works will join the feast of antique curiosities they both loved so much.

At the exposition there are presented the works of Yu. Pimenov, V.Lebedev, A. Pakhomov, E.Charoushin, Yu. Vasnetsov and T.Mavrina.

Combination of Russian classic art of 19 and 20 centuries, namely famous artists Aivazovsky, Guinne, Kamenev, Yakovlev, Konchalovsky, and Art Deco furniture from popular designers Jules Leleu, Jean Pascaud, “Sue&Mare” create a unique fresh approach and a breakthrough in design. Combination of these styles is the distinguishing feature of private Moscow interiors.

Vera Yermolayeva is one of the most legendary and referred-to figures of Russian fine art of the early 20th century. Associate of Malevich at Vitebsk UNOVIS (1919–1922), head of Color Laboratory at GINHUK, the famous “refuge” of Saint Petersburg left ultras, organizer of futuristic group “Bloodless Murder” in cooperation with LeDantue and Zdanevich, and participant of many other Russian avant-garde undertakings. Her works at Russian Antique Salon are exposed for the first time.

Along with the works of Konstantin Gorbatov there will be presented the works of Altman, Veschilov, Korovin, Pozhedayev and Tereshkovich.

In the works of Konstantin Ivanovich Gorbatov pulsate a vital impulse and breath of painting, a rare talent to speak the language of a given object, a language of flowers, sea and sky; a talent given to chosen, to those, who were not taught but born an artist. K.I. Gorbatov: “One should depict life not the way it is, but the way it could be”.

Higher Art and Technical Workshops (Rus. VHUTEMAC) was opened in 1920, later renamed in VHUTEIN (Higher Art and Technical Institute) and closed in 1930. Among VHUTEMAC teaching staff there were А. Labas, P.Mitourich, А. Drevin and К. Istomin; М. Akselrod was a student, and later taught to artists in his alma mater; Л. Kazenin, R.Barto and А. Tchirkov also were taught at “formalism-breeder”. “Kovcheg” gallery displays their painting and graphics of different periods – from 1920s till 1940-1950s.
